Episode transcript
We're adaptable, right? Maybe we just. Maybe we all end up having a lifestyle like people in Dubai do, where you spend approximately three minutes outdoors every day. And that's just. That's just the aggregate of the time that it took for me to get to the front door to an Uber. And we just all stay inside, right? In our hermetically sealed buildings. Life can adapt, humans can adapt, but on the whole, we're destroying the planet.
Welcome to the Crazy Wisdom podcast. Today I interviewed the founder and CEO of an interesting company called the Prepared. His name is John Ramey, and the Prepared teaches people how to get ready for emergencies that are such as car accidents and natural disasters. They develop guides, online guides. So John knows a lot about stress, and his whole business is wrapped around helping people deal with some of the most stressful situations on the planet. So this interview was very impactful for me. I learned quite a few things about how I can prepare for a future emergency. Hopefully it's helpful for you too. An interesting aspect of this interview with John is that he was a startup founder in Silicon Valley, is pretty connected with that whole network, and then moved to Boulder and moved outside of the valley. So it gets a kind of insider, outsider perspective. Also, I just wanted to let everyone know that I'll be doing an online course with another CEO, Anders Jones, who is the CEO of Facet Wealth. And so we'll be doing an online course. And if you're a startup founder who is looking to build a remote company, distributed company, and also raise money for that distributed company, Anders has done this and he just recently raised $30 million and then took his company to Baltimore, outside of Silicon Valley. Again, kind of moving away from the center of Silicon Valley and creating a company elsewhere. And so we're going to provide some information in this course. I'd really love it. If you're a startup founder trying to think about how you're going to raise money, I highly recommend checking out this course. It will be an application only, so you will have to apply these short applications just so we can know we get the right type of companies who need this type of information. And essentially what we're going to do is we're going to offer quite a bit of value in terms of I will be interviewing Anders and then we will essentially, it will be live, a live course, and I'll be interviewing him, finding out best information that he used in order to build his company and raise money. And then we'll basically have. We'll start on a Monday with a live course that you tune into. And then through the week, I'll develop some assignments and we'll connect you with other startup founders and kind of develop relationships among the other people in the, in a class. And then on Friday, we'll kind of round out the course with anything that came up in the week. So it'll be a short kind of mini course on how you can prepare your company to figure out how to raise money. So anders just raised $30 million in his series A, so has some relevant information because this is really important. When you're fundraising, you need relevant information that's, that's timely because what worked five years ago might not necessarily work today. And you know, I grew up, my father was a venture capitalist and investor. So I know about this industry from growing up in it. And I've, you know, I've talked with my dad quite a bit about, about all this different stuff and I've actually raised money myself. So, yeah, we're hoping to provide value that we can. If you are a startup founder and looking to raise money, please consider applying for it. And if you want to sign up for that, please find me at stuartalsop.substack.com if you sign up for the newsletter, I will be including more information about how you can apply there at stuartalsop.substack.com really hope you enjoy this interview with with John Ramey. Please let me know your thoughts. Have a great day.
