Welcome to the Crazy Wisdom Podcast. My guest today was my uncle, Joseph Allsop. My uncle was the CEO of a company called Progress Software, which he started and then he took all the way to ipo, which is so, so rare. And so it's been a great gift that I've had in my life in order to come to him for the wisdom on how to be an entrepreneur, how to start a company, how to do all these things. And so I'm offering that wisdom out to the listeners who may be interested in starting a company. And it's not easy. And Joe here has some valuable advice on what it means to start a company and what it means to go through years, decades of starting something and then having it come to this stable position and then all the changes that are inherent in that process. Like, you know, Buddhism talks about the nature of change all the time and that things are constantly changing and how do we adapt to this constantly changing environment. And when you start a company, it's like that, but on steroids. Everything is changing all the time. And how do you set up the company in a way where when the good times are good, you enjoy it, but then you also realize the bad times are coming, there are going to be bad times. So how can you set the company up to both thrive and survive during those bad times too? So hopefully this is helpful. I think Joe gives a lot of great practical learnings from his time doing it. And of course, like all of this advice, all of this learnings from other people has to be applied subjectively through your own understanding. And really the only way you're going to figure it out is, is to do it on your own. All these things are just pointers and it's a really bad idea to rely on advice for actual learning. So I hope you enjoy this. I want to let everybody know I'm doing breathwork sessions throughout the day. About six breathwork sessions. They're only 10 minutes long. And if you are starting a company or if you are working at a company, they are a really great way to kind of let go of the past, come back to what's going on right now.
